EVs are now practical, affordable, offer good real-world performance and range, and can hold their own against conventional cars. Here’s a list worthy of consideration.

Affordable EVs

Tesla Model 3: This is a sporty electric car, with a range of 250 miles, that’s compact on the outside but spacious on the inside. Everything about this Tesla is modern, including its design. The touchscreen needs getting used to, but once you drive it, you will want one.

Kia Niro EV: This crossover EV features strong electric motors that offer a zippy driving experience and a range of 239 miles. Interior storage solutions are clever, and the infotainment system is user-friendly. It charges quickly too.

Hyundai Kona Electric: It took this segment by storm thanks to its 258-mile range. It accelerates fast, has pleasant interiors, and a generous feature list. It also has an SAE combo charger as standard.

Chevrolet Bolt EV: This was the first non-Tesla to offer a range of 259 miles. The claimed cargo space may not seem spacious, but it is surprisingly practical. The front seats are a bit firm, and the interior is plasticky, but it performs well for its price.

Nissan Leaf: The redesigned Leaf is quieter, more comfortable, and has a range of 149 miles. The Leaf Plus goes up to 226 miles.

Luxury EVs

Tesla Model 3: It’s back. Because if you choose the Long Range version, you get AWD, upgraded interiors, faster acceleration, and a range of 322 miles.

Audi e-Tron: This is an excellent five-passenger SUV with a range of 204 miles. It’s roomy, comfortable, and drives smoothly. The battery pack charges fast and lasts long.

Jaguar I-Pace: This sleek, futuristic Jaguar offers poise, comfort, sophistication, and a range of 234 miles. It’s sporty too, but not very efficient.

Tesla Model Y: The newest Tesla adopts an SUV-like stance and goes for 315 miles on a full charge. It is expected to get a third-row in the future, making it the cheapest three-row EV.

Tesla Model S: The oldest Tesla in production offers a range of up to 391 miles, depending on how it is equipped. It has a roomy, attractive cabin and offers excellent driving dynamics.
