The Safest Sedans This Year

SUVs may be the best selling type of vehicle today. But, sedans aren’t exactly fading away. For many people, their first car is a sedan. With manufacturers, sedans also often receive the latest safety equipment before it shows up on other models. And, here, we have a list of the safest sedans this year.

Subaru Impreza: Subaru takes safety very seriously. And among its models, the Subaru Impreza impresses with its standard AWD and safety tech that features on an affordable compact car. Subaru offers its EyeSight suite of advanced driver-assist and safety systems as standard on all models with an automatic transmission. The car automatically brakes to avoid or lessen the impact of a collision. It also alerts the driver if they get drowsy and will let drivers know when the vehicle ahead has started moving. It has an overall five-star rating.

Mazda3: This car is loved by younger drivers. It’s an entry-level car, but it is as safe as mid-size sedans and crossovers. This one has something extra – all-wheel drive. It also offers the most safety and advanced driver-assist systems as standard. This includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and a drowsy driver monitor. The Mazda3 has an overall five-star rating.

Honda Civic: Every trim including the base trim gets a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, and automatic high-beams. Higher trims get Honda LaneWatch and a self-dimming rearview mirror. The Honda Civic received a five-star overall safety rating.

Toyota Corolla: The safe and sensible Corolla has Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a standard suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance features that includes pre-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, lane tracing assist (on models with automatic transmission), road sign assist that reads road signs and posts them in the instrument cluster. The Corolla received an overall five-star rating. 

Honda Insight: The original Honda hybrid offers state-of-the-art powertrains and safety. It has the Honda Sensing Suite that includes lane departure warning and assist, forward collision warning and mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, and road sign assist. The Honda Insight also has a five-star rating.
