Want to save money on fuel and be kinder to the environment? These are the best hybrids to buy.
Honda Insight: It looks great, has a comfortable cabin, and accelerates quickly. It can also achieve a combined 50mpg easily. Additionally, there are a lot of safety features available as standard, and it’s surprisingly affordable.
Toyota Camry Hybrid: This conventional hybrid is a midsize sedan that returns a combined 52mpg. It’s easy to drive, comfortable, has intuitively laid out controls, and accelerates faster than the conventional Camry. It’s a strong all-rounder, but it lacks personality.
Honda Accord Hybrid: This is one of the best midsize hybrids available today and offers a lot of passenger space, high-quality interiors, a refined ride, the latest tech, and a combined efficiency of 48mpg. It accelerates faster than the conventional Accord, but it doesn’t like being pushed.
Toyota Avalon Hybrid: It has a spacious and upscale cabin, feels smooth and premium, and returns a combined 44mpg. The new design looks aggressive, but it’s comfortable for the entire family with their luggage.
Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid: The Ioniq Hybrid 2020 has more active safety features than before, an updated interior, and returns a combined 58mpg! Braking and driving performance isn’t very refined, but it offers a strong value proposition.
Toyota Prius: This car made hybrids common and acceptable. And with a combined 56mpg, it’s still impressive. AWD is available as an option, and the Prius remains a practical, easy to live with, reasonably priced hybrid.
Lexus ES 300h: This luxurious hybrid has classy interiors, a quiet and comfortable ride, and returns 44mpg combined. The infotainment system isn’t great, and it isn’t the quickest car, but it is peaceful and offers great value.
BMW 745e xDrive iPerformance: This plug-in hybrid has an electric range of 16 miles and returns a combined efficiency figure of 22mpg. Not great numbers. But the turbocharged inline-six with 389hp, its long feature list, its comfort, and refinement make it a very nice car.
Lexus LC 500h: This is a luxurious grand tourer that packs in the efficiency of a hybrid. Its exterior and interior design are impressive. It is sporty and comfortable and offers economy figures similar to a budget sedan – 30mpg combined.
